Under protest refers to a payment made subject to a dispute. The payor typically makes the payment with notice to the payee that the payment is being made under protest, thereby reserving the right to object to the obligations later. This section allows a Party to dispute the “correctness” of a bill, pay the demanded money under protest, and preserve the right to contest the charges within 6 months. After 6 months passes, if the charges are not resolved by the contesting Party, then the right to protest charges is waived.
